Follow the link below and read the excerpt from An American Childhood, a memoir written by Annie Dillard. As we move through a discussion and a study of memoirs and writers of memoirs, consider the rhetorical strategies Dillard and other memoirists use to establish purpose, set tone, and control mood. Answer the questions that follow the memoir by posting a new thread on this board. I suggest you work on this a little bit each night rather than putting it off until Thursday evening when it is due. Also, another suggestion: work on this in Word or some other word processing software. This should help to prevent any simple spelling and grammatical errors, thus also preventing Sadaf from making any comments that might be seen as deleterious. Do not forget to reply to at least one classmate as well. For the purposes of this homework, you need only reply to one of your classmate's answers, as there are a number of questions that you will be exploring in reference to Dillard's piece. Posting due: Thursday, February 7th; Reply due: Saturday, February 9th. docs.google.com/Doc?id=ddjpgz9x_107gm825k23Rubric: rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php?screen=PrintRubric&rubric_id=1365089&
